Graphic 45 - Twelve Days of Christmas

Hi!! Wow, Christmas is just 3 DAYS away!! Can you believe it? In light of that, today I’m sharing two layouts I created using the Twelve Days of Christmas collection by Graphic 45.

 

This is one of my most favorite Graphic 45 collections because I love the rich, vibrant colors. I also appreciate that this collection includes a few non-traditional Christmas colors, like blue and pink. And, because each sheet is absolutely gorgeous I used lots of layers! I finished both of my layouts off with a pile of chipboard tags, Prima and Manor House flowers.

Webster Pages - A Christmas Story

Hello everyone, 

Not long now till the jolly man in red arrives...I know my boys are super excited and are counting down!

I am here today to share with you a layout I created using the gorgeous Webster Pages - A Christmas Story papers which you can find in the store. 

What I love about these papers is the lots of different colours in this range.  Pinks, blues, your tradiontal red and green, cream/golds.  A colour to suit any Christmas theme. I chose my favourite at the moment the aqua and gold.

 " Believe"

 

Lots of background stamping and mix media techniques used on this layout using a combination of Prima, Kaiser and SODAlicious stamps and Tattered Angels Jazz Blue Glimmermist, PanPastels and water colour paints. You can find many similar stamps and mixed media products in the store.

 

Gorgeous Reindeer Chipboard from 2Crafty....they are super cute..love them! And sigh...the glittery gold Manor House flowers are my absolutely favourite!

Hello to all!

Another Christmas layout with Santa's List Tereza Collins collection.

I did not have my stuff in a round and decided to create a frame with hot glue.

I used a small dish and did several laps on it with hot glue 

 

 

I waited for the glue to cool to remove all the glue from the plate

 

 

And my frame ready

 

 

This ink Lindy's Stamp Gang is fabulous, it is a powder that you mix with water and voila the paint is ready to be used.

 

 

 

I wanted a little more creamy, then mixed it with white acrylic paint

 

 

I painted my frame hot glue and here the result

 

I spent a strand of pearls that had here around the frame

 

 

 

I could not resist and used this photo of my son's girlfriend with her mini poodle so beautiful!

Teresa Collins Santa's List

Hello everyone,

I am excited to share with you all a layout I created recently using the gorgeous Teresa Collins Santa's List collection. I can't believe Christmas is just around the corner and I still haven't scrapped photos from last Christmas yet!

The papers in this collection are just magical..I absolutely love the bits of glitter on the patterns in the paper.  And because the colours are fairly neutral, it makes it easier to add whatever christmas colour you want.

Here is my project and some close ups..

 

Even though in Australia we never experience snow at Christmas time, quite the opposite temperatures in fact, I couldn't help cutting out the snowflake shapes on one of the pattern papers and creating a snowy theme. 

Often when I scrap there are lots of layers in the background paper.  I start with some Gesso and Texture Paste along with a mask.  I then add some colour.  I used some Shimmerz Coloringz in Heidi Ho Blue which once I sprayed on my background, I spray again with water to create a water colour effect.  You can find lots of yummy Shimmerz products in store.

Hi! Today I’m sharing a layout, card and tag I created using NEW Flying Unicorn store items including the Teresa Collins Memorabilia collection and LeakyShed Studio products.

I’m absolutely in LOVE with the new Memorabilia collection. It’s perfect for any photo and the colors are fabulous…who doesn’t love black and glittery gold paper and accent pieces?! I also had the chance to play with some beautiful LeakyShed Studios chipboard pieces. Their chipboard comes bare so the possibilities are endless for how you can use them. I kept mine pretty simple and just used a little bit of white Gesso to cover them.

A Leaky Shed Adventure

Lynne here, and today I'm sharing two projects made with Leaky Shed Studio chipboard. I was so excited when Alda announced that she would be carrying their products in the store.....because, well, they're gorgeous!!!

Love that sentiment, and it's perfect for this picture of my daughter and grand-son playing, while on a photo shoot. Of course, I embossed the title with Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Powder.

I used a few pieces from my stash to make this cluster.

My background was first misted, then I added some Molding Paste through a stencil, and misted again. While the sprays were wet, I splattered on more sprays, and let the colors blend together. You can also see a bit of stamping and more stencilling in the background.

My grand-son Mason at a waterpark near their new home in Germany. 

The chipboard frames were inked, then I stippled on some fiber paste, and added two colors of Inka Gold, and finished off with a bit more inking.

Love that FUL key!! I've been saving it for a special project!!

The last frame in the set, was backed with patterned paper, and I added a rubon over that. The butterfly was colored and stickled. The gold flower is Prima, and another hoarded piece!!

October Build A Page - With Jennifer Snyder

Flying Unicorns Kit of the Month October - Farmer's Market and Hayrides

This was created using the Oct Kit of the Month at the Flying Unicorn. You can see the kit here. The kit is rich with Kaisercraft paper, Crate Paper and many other goodies to zap that creative spark into overdrive. 

This is a photo I took a few years back on a scrapping trip to Colorado.

I have a video on how I created my layout.  

Here is a close up of how I treated the Dusty Attic chipboard.  Inked first with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Stain and distress ink, then topped with Stampendous Aged Gold embossing Enamel. This powder is chunky and can be heated to achieve a smooth finish or heated just a little to get this dappled look. 

I used the Studio Calico American Crafts Mistable leaves and misted with Lindy's Edelweiss Moss Green.  Love that color.  May actually be my "go to" color. Then I inked thhe edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo.

New FabScraps Has Arrived at the Flying Unicorns Store

Ohhhhhh heavens! FabScraps has come out with their most heavenly collection yet! Angelic Christmas. And it's in the Flying Unicorn store right now!

This collection makes my heart sing - it's so gorgeous.  Not only are the papers sensational, but the chippies are crazy cool as well - ornate, elegant and perfect for the season.

This is what I created.  My base background paper is Angelic Christmas Collection –Angelic2 paper. I added some additional inks and stamps to enrich the page and make it fit my vision.
 I cut an angel image from my photo paper and mounted it on cardboard.

The layout is very simple but I guess if I had put anything else on it, it would not have added value to the piece.  I like it clean and rather simple.

The unique FabScraps Cathedral Window Chipboard was covered thickly in gold embossing enamel .

Hello everyone!

Angelica here today with my first post for the product design team.I´m so thrilled to be able to work with Graphic 45 this month! They were my first, and never ending scrappy-love.I've used paper from their wonderful and vibrant series "French Country". The rich colors and the harvest theme are perfect this time of year here in Sweden, hence August is our harvest month.The theme for this layout is love, and  It's called "Love letters only". Hope you enjoy it!

 

The papers from Graphic 45 are so versatile, and along with each line there are a lot of extra "goodies, such as Alphabet stickers  and cardstock stickers, which I have used on this layout. Since I love to fuzzy cut, these papers are a real treat! And I have done that a lot on this project. My favourite tool to use is Ingvild Bolmes Craft knife, and distressing tool. I also use Tim Holtz Distress marker in black sot, to distress the white edges where I have cut. To make the look scabby-chick, I distress a lot, using both Lindys Stamp Gang mist, and Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I did not use any flowers(!) on this one, because the paper itself has so many beautiful fruits and leaves to cut out

 

The metal sign is Tim Holtz, the bow is dyed with Distress Ink "Barn Door" and the lace is an old one from my stash. The lovely butterflies and tiny letters are from Graphic 45s line Olde Curiosity Shoppe.And as always on my layouts, I have used cheese cloth to soften it up.The fountain pen is an old one from a flea market.

 

I have created frames from a paper with borders( French Country, and the vintage images are from Pion Design(a Swedish brand) In the right corner is a wreath tucked under the photo, made out of stems cut from flowers( I always keep them) and fussy cut berries.

 

The button in the right corner is from thestickers sheet, glued to a button and covered with glossy accent.The love letter mailbox is Dusty Attic, painted with acrylic paint, and just a little Inka Gold on the edges.Cluster created from the stickers sheet

 

I had soo much fun creating this layout! Graphic 45 always gets my imagination going:)

Happy Thursday - Sideways Glance

 Happy Thursday.  Jennifer Snyder here today.  

By the looks of the little girl in my photo, she's not happy it's Thursday.   Actually she's not really happy with cousin Jen.  She's not too thrilled that cousin Jen is making her sit still for photos.  I'm not very popular when I walk into her house.  In fact, I tend to make some of my smaller cousins, nieces and nephews cry when I show up with my camera.  Such is life. 

I ignore the few moments of the pout and then I get to scrap the looks of disdain, unhappiness and pouting that I capture.   Yippee.  It's a great day in my opinion.   

I used a whole lot of Prima in this creation.  In fact the Design is by  Marie-Nicholas Alliot, for Prima.  

The green or pistachio floral papers are from Prima Madeline Collection.  Maybe quite possible my favorite Prima collection of all time.  I'll cry the day they are gone.  The Flying Unicorns store has some packs left, but you gotta run fast becuase as soon as I am done posting, I'm heading to the store.  hahaha.  

I did a little stenciling with molding paste and the Prima Poppies and Peonies mask from the Flying Unicorns store. Added some Prima wooden buttons and some cheesecloth.

BoBunny, C’est La Vie - Canvas & Layout

Hi!! It’s Erica, and today I’m sharing a canvas and layout I made using BoBunny’s NEW C’est La Vie Collection. Let me tell you, this line is GORGEOUS!! It has something for everyone with its bright pastel color palette, old world charm and adorable dress forms; every pattern and print is just absolutely stunning.

First up my canvas – this is my very FIRST canvas!! I was so inspired by Shona’s WYCDW (http://flyingunicorn.typepad.com/flying-unicorn/2013/03/wcydw.html) that I decided to try a canvas. I used several C’est La Vie patterned papers, the coordinating buttons, layered chipboard, and trinkets. I also added lots of prima flowers, and finished off my canvas with lace bows, pearls and metal corners.

I'm Marilia, mother of Gabriel and Marina, married to Peter. I am extremely passionate about life and people, love life stories. I live in a town called Paraisópolis, located in the south of Minas Gerais, where the fresh air and nature are present in my daily life I am a woman who likes things simple! I love dogs home, complete and being around people who make me happy. I always made sure to create a little bit of everything! I thought the commentary to three years and it was love at first sight! Think Spring with Teresa Collins!

Maggi here and it's time to chase away the winter blues with Teresa Collins Sweet Afternoon. Christmas has come and gone and that always leaves me feeling a little blue and knowing that a new year is almost upon us, I thought something cheerful was in order! And what could be more cheerful that a wedding layout and the promises of youg love and dreams!


I am making my niece an album with pictures from her wedding.  It is a challenge for me as I never scrap in blue and pink but those were her wedding colors so I've been working pink and blue!

Hi everyone and what another beautiful here in Florida.  The weather has a slight just of chill perfect for opening the windows breaking out your kit and just CREATE!!  Here is a layout I made using the November kit of the month "Solace for the Heart"  I had a blast creating and I now everyone has seen all the gorgeous inspiration the Creative Team has published in the forums.  So if you have not bought a kit be sure to pick one up today!! Everything is perfect for those Holiday photos..

Hey everyone I want to share some awesome Halloween papers from the Flying Unicorn - Kit of the Month called Love Potion.  I made this layout using the papers and Dusty Attic chipboard piece, Stampendous - Crushed Glass.  All these fabulous items are available in the flying Unicorn store!!!

 I made some of these flowers and also painted flowers from the Flying Unicorn and I used Creative Paperclay to make the leaves and then painted them with Creative Inspirations paints.

7 Gypsies - Trousseau with Monica!!

Hi everyone I want to share my project for the Product of the Month - 7 Gypsies "Trousseau" collection.  This was a very unique collection.  It had a lot of greys and subtle colors but you also get some nice bright colors which added a lot of contrast.  I loved making this layout with this paper line.

This is my niece and the love of my life little nephew Jayden who is a handful.  I have been working on applying gesso to my layouts and trying to work with "white space". 

I used some prima flowers to wrap around the image to sort of hug the photo.

I used some of the Tim Holtz filmstrips as embellishment embedded in the flower arragnement. 

I fussy cut one of the images from the papers.  This collection has a lot of these neat little vintage photos.  I made a toilet paper mini with this collection that  I will be posting.

Vintage Harmony with Monica

Good morning, afternoon or possibly evening deoending on what time everyone checks in. I want to share my creations with the AMAZING VINTAGE HARMONY kit.  First I want to say I totally lost my drive for creating layouts - we just could not get along.  I am slowly and I mean slowly learning to create them again and it is simply because of the Flying Unicorn.  There are so many inspiring women here to learn from and though it may not seem like I am always here looking - unfortunately I am a bit of a studier or onlooker at first.  You may not see alot from yet, but I am trying to soak in things and learn.  I think I am on the right track because now I have done more layouts than I have in years.

 

 

 

 

Now these are the layouts I have done - the kit makes things so much easier to especially for someone who is just getting back into layouts -so you can not and I mean can not go wrong with getting a kit!!

 

This is my beautiful sister-in-law and my niece and nephew who are demons but the love of my life - especially my nephew Jayden...

I fussy cut the big red flower off of another paper in the kit which was the Beautiful Moments and it broke my heart to cut it too...  I have recuperated (I think)

 

I believe in using almost everything off the paper the title was the title off the paper and these borders I used from cutting the end of the paper if you turn it over it has the color of the paper on it.  So I figured hey I can use this and I did.

This is the Little Yellow Bicycle from the kit - I love their papers too well I am a paper hoarder so I love it all!!

Riddersholm Creations with Tracey

Hi there! Tracey here with 2 pages I created using the beautiful Riddersholm papers we are highlighting this month. I am such a fan because I love the soft watercolor effects these papers have. These pages were created with the Huntington's Garden collection.

My first page features a pic of my daughter overlooking the waterfront at our favorite ice cream spot in Somerset,MA. I wanted a natural effect because the paper is just so soft and lovely and the picture so peaceful so the only inking on the page is on the title.

I covered the Fabscrap diecut with white gesso, then used the metallic watercolors from the June kit to shade them in.

My second page features a pic of me in Barcelona several years ago.

 The sunny colors reminded me of this marketplace and the energy an beauty of Spain.

Like the flowers? I made them by cutting circles of tulle, then heating them up at the edges with a heat gun. I held them down with a pencil so they would curl up around the center.

 I then misted them with Tattered Angels in peach and glued a small piece of lace and a Petaloo flower center. I applied diamond Stickles randomly on the layers for a little subtle sparkle.

August KOM with Kelly

Hello!!! I have a couple layouts to share that I used the beautiful August KOM, "Remember The Tomorrows" to create. As you by now surely know, this kit is beautiful...feminine, romantic, amazing. I have really enjoyed the combination of the two lovely paper lines from Webster's Pages and Kaisercraft..just an amazing and unique combo..like they were made to be together!!!
Here is a layout of my lovely 2 year old girlie, Lilah Jeanne...making a super typical face..her "attitude" face, I just love it!! I created the background by punching and tearing strips and layering them, then  misting with some of the Perfect Pearls mist that comes in the kit to grunge it up a bit. Then I layered the area under my photo with the Kaisercraft Collectables (diecuts) from the embellishment add-on, those sure go a long way!! There's tons of die cuts in that little pack!! Added my flowers (after inking them up a bit) and some fun layers below the photo as well, and here you have it...

I went all super romantic with this one!! I really enjoyed using the Tattered Angels/Prima Mistables canvas shapes to create my flowers!! I used the super neat gouache paints that came with to do some masking and painting on my canvas.

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Frank here to share a few of my creations from the June Kit Of The Month, I had tons of fun with this kit, not only is it filled with the most amazing colorful papers, but the embellishments, and flowers are just gorgeous!I truly had so much fun working with this kit. First off I will share this canvas I made using the beautiful pearlescent watercolors, I simply loved the colors and decided to use them on a canvas, combine the lovely KaiserCraft papers included in the kit, and you have a perfect combination!

Next is a layout I made and that I fell in love with, I used some of the gorgeous Prima paper and Bo Bunny paper included in the kit, and oh my what a combination, together with the beautiful KaiserCraft rubon quotes, I was in love!

Ocean Breezes and Summer Skies - June KOM from Maggi

The June kit has really been a favorite for me, I've had so much fun using the rich Prima Fairy Belle papers and the Bo Bunny Country Garden.  And of course the Kaisercraft papers have been lucious too!  This is a layout about dh's cousins' husband who passed recently.  We went to Illinois in April to attend his memorial service and celebrate his life at a gathering at his home after the service.  I was really happy to be there so that I could help Marilyn, his widow, with all the preparations.  The photo and verse that I have scrapped is something that she and their children had printed to give everyone.  Although it was a sad occasion, we were not sad, instead we celebrated what a wonderful man he was and the wonderful life that he lived.

 

I used papers from the Bo Bunny Country Garden collection and  a scrap of Glitz (the dotted piece) for this layout.  The braid and Dusty Attic frame are from my stash. 

We've been talking about various ways of treating chipboard this month and I wanted to share this technique with you.  First I painted the DA frame with antique white acrylic paint.  Then I inked a flourish stamp that came in the May kit with Perfect Pearls Medium and stamped on the chipboard.  Next I brush on some dry Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls powder (also from the May kit).  The powder adheres to the PP medium and brings out the flourish image.  It appears to be worn off in some places and that is by design, to give it that aged look.  I then coated the frame with Ranger Glossy Accents to seal the Perfect Pearls.   Its a really easy technique and looks so great to me!  The leafy scrolls are cut with a favorite Spellbinders for Heartfelt Creations die, Bella Rose and then dabbed with Lindy's Gator Gumbo Olive.

I loved this bright side of the Country Garden collection, Dave's life was colorful, he was much loved and so this tribute to him needed to be bright and cheerful. If he were here, I know he would agree.

 

Here's another LO I did using the kit and Tammy's wonderful BAP tute.  I changed it a little but the basic design is there.  I was struggling with this LO and Tammy's tute was just what I needed.  Here I've used the Prima papers from the kit and a doily and cardstock from my stash.

 

 

The flowers are a mix of layered Kaisercraft, a Petaloo and Primas that came in the kit.  I used the pearlescent water colors to tone down the bright pink flowers.  I also used the watercolors to transform the Petaloo flower from bright white to a softer pink color.  I fussy cut flowers from one of the Prima papers and layered underneath the blooms and vine.

I heat embossed the Fabscraps Victorian sign from the kit with Stampendous aged gold and for the bracket and shabby white on the sign. After I added the letters, I painted the sign with Crackle Accents to add to its old and aged appearance.

May Kit Of The Month Sweet Embrace

Hello everyone!!

Happy Friday Afternoon!

Frank here sharing all the amazing Kit of the Month creations I made with this kit. I really loved all the various colors with this kit, soft and some more floral, and the amazing add-ons were sooo fantastic, also one of my favorite parts was the amazing Off the page paper bag album!!! Loved that, let me share it all with you!

 

This is my favorite of all, loved the colors, and all the pretty patterns, here are some closeups!

My second layout is such a fun and timeless layout, loved using these Kaiser papers, so wonderful, and yes that is Graphic 45's Owner Diane Schultz! She is amazing!

This layout was made using the amazing Melissa Frances paper, I really loved that paper, so soft and the imagery was sooo perfect, loved it!!! The colors are also so fantastic!

This little box, wow my fave, loved painting, distressing and adding fabulous embellies to this box, such a wonderful keepsake!

Serenity, the paper included in the kit is so lovely, love the imagery, sooo lovely for traveling layouts and cards, which I made here, soo lovely, and also used the cardstock from the Kit, to complement the colors! See that up there, an amazing acetate piece included in the kit I inked with alcohol ink, sooo coool!!!

 

Finally, my paper bag album, I had sooo much fun with this one, and the inkido papers were perfect for it!!! Take a look! page by page!

Ranger - The Perfect Accent - Mandy

Happy Hello Scrappers!  Today I bring to you some wonderful fun techniques using Ranger products.  I used "Liquid Pearls" throughout my layout adding just the right touch of bling.  I painted the "Dusty Attic" chipboard with (Shabby Shutter) "Distress Crackle Paint".  I went over the cracks with "Tim Holtz" distress ink.  I cut and shaped the "Dusty Attic" frame around the photo.  Lastly I added "Liquid Pearls" to the chipboard.  I added "Glue N Seal" throughout and sprinkled on some glitter.  These wonderful products can be found in the online store!

I added "Distress Crackle Paint" to the leaves throughout the layout.

Hi there! Tracey here! To continue this week's highlighting of the beautiful Scrapcake papers, here is my layout of my cutie-pie niece,Vivien. These papers are from the My Private Happiness line and brought to life by oodles of pop-dots, Petaloo, Manor House, Prima and ZVA flowers. The butterflies are courtesy of Lisa Gregory. I coated the Dusty Attic music notes with white paint and lightly flocked them. Everything except for 3 recollection flowers can be found in the UNI store.

Heavenly Sweet "Scrapcake" ~Mandy

Hello everyone, Mandy here bringing you the lovely Scrapcake collection.  (Listen to Your Heart) and (Do What You Love) are the papers I used on this layout.  Delicious colors and beautifully coordinated papers make working with these papers a dream!  I am so glad I was able to create using this line.  It's such a gorgeous collection!!!

I painted the "Manor House" Flowers with Liquid Gold Leaf and used a variety of flowers that can be found at the online store (Flying Unicorn, Petaloo, Prima)!  I added pink glitter througout the design to add some soft sparkle!  Dusty Attic chipboard was painted and altered.

I painted Liquid Gold Leaf on the edges of the paper, cut work, doily to add a soft glow.

Pearls, trims and beads were added for a feminine touch.

Focus On April Kit Of The Month: A Touch Of Spring

Hello Everyone!

Happy Friday!!!

The Kit Of The Month reveal is always my favorite part of the month. I am always happy and excited to share with you the creations I made with the amazing kits that our dear Alda puts together. This April kit I must say was my favorite yet. The kit included wonderful Spring colors while combining perfectly vintage papers from Glitz, French Kiss, which was amazing to work with. Sit back and sip your coffee or tea there is a lot of yummy pictures ahead!

This is a new layout I was saving to share with you all, I LOVE this one, the papers from Glitz of course are to DIE for!! So perfectly beautiful and perfect to distress! I loved the little picket fence, it was so unique and fun to work with. I painted mine gold, for it to combine with the layout, did lots of distressing too. Here are some close ups:

The second layout was also a fave, I loved working with neutral colors this month, and these papers were perfect, the Ruby Rocket August Moon papers were also perfect for this neutral effect.

Of course not all of them had to be neutral, I also loved working with the Fabscraps Organic Collection, wow what beautiful papers, truly exquisite colors and super fun to work with. Take a look.

Yes, I added that beautiful nest onto the layout, it was a MUST!!! I loved it so much! It is truly the PERFECT embellishment, its EXTREME! Like Me!!!! Here are some close ups!

OK, lets take a layout break for a little, I also made a MINI! Oh ya! There is so much in this kit, its so amazing, I made a lovely Spring Mini, and I called it Lucky, because its so vibrant and beautiful, there was so many lovely flowers on this kit, wow, I used the musical paper from Ruby Rocket to make this one take a look

Isn't it awesome? Loved working with those amazing Ruby Rocket Papers, the yummy Manor House Flowers and Flying Unicorn Flowers too!

Back to MORE layouts! Oh, I love my burlap, and when I saw burlap pattern, OMG I had to use it, I am telling you, those French Kiss Papers, AMAZING!!! SO beautiful!

Isn't the paper simply wondeful? It really adds so much! I used  a lot of metals and vintage jewelry in most of my layouts this time around, I found they fit perfectly with all of the papers, so beautiful. Next, I made a Printers Tray, oh yes, I loved it, I used some of the flowers from the flower add-on, which is SUPER worth the money, it has so many delicious flowers in it! SOOO GORG! Prima, Manor House, Kaiser, OH MY!

Again I used some of the beautiful Glitz paper, cannot get enough of it!

Yummy lace, also in the kit, aahhhh so beautiful....

Finally, my Off the Page birdhouse! I went with an awesome SteamPunk theme, which is what my challenge on the forums is all about! I went to Home Depot's Scrapbooking section (oh yes I found it lol) and got me some heavy metals! Take a look!

Focus On Prima Nature Garden

I really love this collection because it has so much wonderful imagery and beautiful tones. It really does remind me of nature. I really particularly love the fairies and the wonderful vintage undertones! Gorgeous!

Zva....the finishing touch!

hi everyone!  Laura here and this week we are featuring the stupendous and spectacular Zva creative!  Their flourishes and  gems/pearls are often my finsihing touch I need to complete a layout.

On this first layout I wanted to use both the pearl and the gem flourishes.  I love to layer and layering flourishes just seemed fabulous!  I also used fabscraps Timeless line....another gorgeous line available at the Flying Unicorn store

On my next layout I wanted to add some more drama to my project and the black flourish was perfect!

I used the fabulous black flourish from Zva, Classic papers from Fabscraps, IR-RESIST-IBLE Alphas from tattered angels and red velvet glimmer mist all available at the Flying Unicorn store

Do you struggle when you are trying to adhere a flourish to your project?  They get tangled and end up all wonky so easily.  Here is a trick I found...

find out where you want the flourish

pull up just the bottom little bit

push the bottom part down where you want it while leaving the rest on the packaging

keep pushing the flourish down while you roll the packaging back

and voila...there is your flourish right where you wanted it

Focus On Prima Almanac Collection

Hello Everyone!!

Happy Friday!

Frank here, sharing a new layout made with the new Prima Almanac Collection which is available in the Flying Unicorn Store. I gotta say this collection was like love at first sight, it is truly a beautiful collection filled with vintage imagery, ledger, cursive writing and so much more. The colors are also so beautiful and the patters are perfect for layouts, and even cards!

I am loving the printed flowers, also from the Almanac Collection, they are so versatile and beautiful, the flowers, embellishments are also in the Flying Unicorn Store. Lovely collection eh? Gotta love the colors, and the soft palette, it is truly stunning, I really loved working with these papers and this collection, so much to see and such beautiful designs. It was hard for me to rip through this paper!!! It was fun though to distress, and ink  this paper, as well as stamp on it, such a perfect paper to stamp on as well! You can never go wrong with Prima ;-) Well I hope I was able to inspire you today,

Getting Fancy with Fancy Pants! ~ Laura

 This week I had the pleasure to work with Fancy Pants Lilac house.  just becasue it has a flowery name does not mean it is for feminine projects only!  I also used the mistables ribbon and the mistables alphas and the tattered leather glimmer mist .  To add a little dimension I outlined the wood stars and dragonfly from my stash with liquid pearls and the fabulous mistables ribbon

In the second layout I used the more femine papers from the lilac house line.  I also used the Flying Unicorn flowers and layered the mistables ribbon that I sprayed with glimmer mist as well as the handmade flowers.

Frank's March Kit Of The Month Projects!

Happy Monday Everyone!!!

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend and had some crafty time!! I am happy to share the projects I made with the March Kit Of The Month "Putting It On The Ritz" The included papers, embellishments and flowers are simply amazing, and I have to say this kit was the best one yet, so sit back and relax because this post will be picture heavy!!

This is my first layout I made for this kit, I gotta say my favorite papers in the kit were the Inkido papers, they were perfectly vintage, cream colored, simple perfection, it really allows for some amazing stamping too.  For this layout I wanted to keep a neutral palette, so I went with a cream color,  used some Glimmer Chalk Mist in French Vanilla available in the Flying Unicorn Store, the little angel stamp is a La Blanche stamp which has a high amount of detail, these stamps are also availabe in the store. Here are some close ups:

Love the Pink Paislee Chippies too, the Alphas are just amazing!!! Beautiful to alter and distress, and what about that Penny Farthing OMG! My second favorite layout is the next one, I had a little moustache photo shoot with the dh, lol had so much fun with these pictures take a look

I also tried to keep the color scheme the same, I LOVE this one, it has got to be my favorite, I simply love how all of the embellishments work together, the Pink Paislee dress form chip which I distressed and inked, as well as that mistables flower part of the kit add-ons! The felt flower was amazing, and I loved working with it, I added a bit of gold to keep with the color. A lot of people have asked me what the chair embellishment is, is it a stamp? an acetate? well, its a little technique I learned at CHA from the owner of La Blanche stamps, she is amazing and I will have a tutorial on that later, it is made from UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Powder) and stamping, cool huh? Here are some closeups

Lovely, now the next layout was really fun to make, love the ripped center with the butterfly Inkido paper, soooo pretty, and it really allowed for the effect that these butterflies are playing in the middle of the paper pulling apart, neat huh?

There is another one of those moustache images, so fun! Love the little cherub on the side so cute, and oh. dont you love that top piece of paper, its also from the kit, amazingness!

The next one was another fun one, love the floral feel to it, and the brown earthy tones on it as well, the papers again in the kit are simply perfection!

The balloon is so adorable, I used some perfect pearls around the edge to create a nice border effect, perfect pearls can be found in the store, the flowers included in the kit were amazing to use, also the patterned felt was so much fun, I made some leaves and added them to the side, so pretty!

Those Pink Paislee chippies are sooo gorgeous!

The next one was so much fun too, I gotta love all the pink I used, I couldnt resist!!! There is a beautiful piece of pink patterned paper included and I just had to use it!

So pefectly vintage and pretty, and do you see those frames on the left? Yes included, and yes delicious! LOVE, I also love the leaves, I hand painted them pink and oh aren't they lovely? Those are also in the kit!

Now on to a card! I have to say this card was a fave for me! Loved making it, and the paper and Eiffel Tower piece I used from the kit was perfect for it!

Isn't the paper just wonderful? GORG! Now on to some Off The Page Goodness, the dressform was the first thing I made with this kit, I mean who could resist? It's just asking to be worked on~! I love how mine turned out, kinda looks like a chic wedding dress!

Love the pearls, trim, and flowers, I even made her a little scarf out of some of the tulle included!! Isn't she wonderful?

I also made a little purse, I had fun making this one, its so cute and perfect, and I love it! Take a look!

Misting fun ~ Laura

Hi everyone!  Laura here and this week we are spotlighting Tattered Angels!  I love misting! Its a great way to add some color and fun to your projects.  I have a couple of layouts to share!

From the unicorn store I used some the fabulous 'cherub pink' glimmer mist , the too fun *Mistables* alphas from pink paislee and some wonderful 7 gypsies papers

I started off with a piece of cream colored cardstock and gently misted it with Cherub Pink then dabbed with a paper towel to give it a more subtle look. 

Since we are spotlighting glimmer mist I wanted to use it on more than the background paper so I misted the bird that I had cut out of one of the papers, the pink pailsee letters, and I also sprayed the ribbon using the technique in the Enchanting Creations Magazine this month.  To save mist, pour a little bit of mist in a small baggie, put in your ribbon or mist and squish it around until you have the coverage you want, you may need to add a bit more mist.

 

For my second project, I wanted to highlight a couple of different things you can do with mist. 

I started off with another piece of creme cardstock, and I added my October Afternoon Day Dream  rub ons in cream from the Unicorn store then I misted over them in the cherub pink mist then I added the Sand Glimmer Mist along the edge and on the chipboard title from my stash.  This technique will work with any color rub ons and cardstock.  If you use white cardstock, then you use white rub ons...the effect is cool and you can use any glimmer mist color you want.  alda has a great secetion of colors so give it a try.

I also used the cherub glimmer mist to distress my handmade flowers by squishing them and rolling them into a ball before layering them. 

I also added some vintage lace, the cherub and buttons and 7 gypsies papers from the Unicorn store!

This is Helene (2amscrapper) and TODAY I'm showcasing the product Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in the fabby color Red Nosed Reindeer, from the Flying Unicorn store, of course!  The key word here in this product is "glimmer".  Shake the bottle and the golden glimmer gets magically mixed with the red--then just spray for some red shimmer.  The other great product I'm using today are the Pink Paislee (Mist)-a-bles-- chipboard alphas that have built in distress.  When I sprayed the Glimmer Mist on the letters, I didn't have to do any extra steps such as wiping with a cloth to reveal the distress. 

Here is my layout also using the following from the Flying Unicorn store:  Basic Grey Kissing Booth,  Fancy Pants Designs Oct 31,  and Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Classic patterned papers; Petaloo, Flora Doodles, ZVA Creative, and Flying Unicorn flowers; ZVA Creative pearl flourish.  The image is from Gecko Galz.

Here is my before and after with the Glimmer Mist and Pink Paislee Mistables.  Please note that I achieve the  "doily" effect by placing a a doily on the beige paper, then misted the entire page, using the doily as a mask.  I then removed the doily. 

 

Frank's February Kit Of The Month Projects!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Frank here sharing the projects I made with the fabulous February Kit Of The Month, "Always With Love". Get ready for some close-up and picture overload! I have tons to share with you today, so sit back and relax with a nice cup of coffee!

My first layout was of course my monthly layout, I have this tradition where I always dedicate the first layout of the month to the actual month. February has got to be my favorite month after December of course. It is filled with love in the air!! The papers included in the kit "Sweet Nothings" Collection by KaiserCraft were perfect for this layout. I used the brown paper and went with a monochromatic look. The flowers are handmade by me, I used the lace as a border, which is also included in the kit, and of amazing quality I must add! Also that grape vine heart was soooo cute!!! I added it to the middle, where the heart is opening up and releasing cotton, pretty intense huh? Love the heart banner, it just popped into my head that there should be some sort of banner somewhere, me and my banner craze! Alda really thought of me in this kit, she included those yummmy woodgrain thickers! (THANK YOU) they were the perfect alphas for this layout, also included was that amazing key trinket, so amazing! I used a lot of Distress ink on this one, specifically Frayed Burlap by Tim Holtz.

My second layout I went with something more bright, I used the 7 Gypsies paper included in the kit as a background and placed another Kaiser paper on top and did some distressing and openings to reveal the lovely paper underneath. Also did some folds, I used the amazing rub-ons included in the kit too, perfect color, those chipboard hearts and wooden hearts are too included and were so wonderful to alter and work with. I used mostly Wild Honey Distress Ink on this one to achieve the color brilliance! Also used Zva Rhinestone Flourishes, available in the store.

The next one has to be my favorite, I also used Sweet Nothings for this one!

This one was my favorite to make, I used 2 pieces of paper one Fabscraps for the background, wonderful paper, such high quality, I stamped it in the middle and then placed a Sweet Nothings paper over it, making this sort of middle opening with the stamped imagery. I then used the leftover paper to make those banners at the left, which I stamped with different stamps, I added the lovely pink flowers which were originally cream but I painted them with Cadillac Pink Glimmer Mist, available in the store, I also used some of the beautiful pink flowers included in the kit by Zva, they are so delicate and pretty! I also used some more of that lovely lace, ahh Gorgeous!

These are two of the cards I made with the kit as well:

For my Off The Page project I handpainted the entire KaiserCraft wooden DREAM Mini! I used vintage white paint, the reason was so I could stamp easier on it as well as use some of the lovely rubons included, here are the closeups!

I used a lot of the beautiful flowers, pieces of patterned paper, rubons, pearl strand, buttons which were all included in the kit, what a value! I also added some tulle to hold it together! Prima flowers and Kaiser mini flowers available in the Flying Unicorn Store as well!

Lastly I would like to share a new layout I made with this amazing kit, this layout was defenitely focused on the amazing trinkets, wooden pieces and greapevine heart included in the kit, I used another beautiful piece of Sweet Nothings Paper for this one as well. Gorgeous collection I must say!

Sandi's February Kit on the Month projects

Happy Monday everybody! Sandi here with a few of my projects using the February Kit of the Month "Always with Love." First, I want to say thanks to Alda for providing such awesome kits .. and for allowing me to work with them!  This month was over- the-top gorgeous!

 

This was actually the second project that I did but I think it is my favorite.  It went together so quickly, I felt like the page made itself! Here you see some of the luscious FabScraps papers. This is the first time I have had the opportunity to work with them and I am in love!!  I aded a few Petaloo flowers of my own but the ones that steal the show are the Zva pink and purple ones.  Within the floral cluster I tucked in one of those cute grapevine wreaths! Love them! The lacing tash is Dusty Attic (DA0631, painted wam winter white) and is from my own stash but I thought it would be perfect on a bridal page! The heart shaped KaiserCraft corner flourish comes in the kit and could be used so many ways!!  I inked it up a bit for definition. Then for a quick title I added the pink rhinestone title LOVE from KaiserCraft which is also in the kit. My butterfly is fussy cut from some older Melody Ross papers.

 

I have to admit to being a bit partial to this page! The photo is of my Mom and Dad on their wedding day.  Here I have use All Yours pp as the background paper, distressed and then added to some brown cardstock.  For drama, I used a Dusty Attic garden frame (DA0606) from my stash that is painted with Tsukinek walnut stain, then Coffee Glimmer Mist and lastly Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist.  See that cute little cherub? That was the very first thing I did with my kit! I knew if I didn't fussy cut him and the flowers, that I would use that page "as is" and loose the benefit of the cherub as an embellishment.  He is from the Love Letters paper.  Then I just started layering some papers (Devoted) along with a Crafty Secrets tag from the kit (love those things) and a crochet doily.  I've worked in a Prima vine and some ribbon from my stash as well as buttons from the kit .... along with a button from my Mom's old button box! I"ve tucked in more DA (french flourish, DA0273) painted white and then inked and adorned it with a Bo Bunny trinket from my "stuff."  The butterfly was fussy cut from some older BoBunny Gabrielle papers.

This one was fun to do!! I did some wet and some dry distressing to my b/g paper You & Me and added  some peach cardstock from the Jan KOM as a foundation. Then I misted my page with Sunkissed Peach GM and when that dried added my fence using a Prima mask and more Coffee Shop. Next I added my center panel using the Sincerely pp along with some off-white c/s that was punched with my Cherish Heart punch. The upper right corner was wet distressed, folded back and then I tucked in a white doily. For interest I added in another butterfly.  For flowers, I used a mix of the ones I fussy cut earlier from the Love Letters pp along with some that Alda sent in the kit and one older Prima Madrigal bloom.  In honor of my team mate Frank, I hand snipped a few banners and added those into the floral clusters. That lower right corner has another of the awesome KC wooden flourishes.  And did you see the American Craft Thickers? Woohoo! Instant title!!

Okay, one last layout before I show you my OTP. This was done using the Mojo Monday sketch from Jan 30th which I designed. So, that was kind of fun! This is my dd Danielle's wedding invitation which has Bacon's Wedding Morning painting on the front.  I've used the 7 Gypsies paper here, Canal and Campo from the Venice collection but used some Sweet Nothings (With Love) as my b/g. I fussy cut the dove and more of the florals and added these in ..  along with another tag from Crafty Secrets. Loved all those images! There is a hint of green in the With Love paper, so I used more Dusty Attic (Flourish #5, DA0434) as an accent that has been painted with Dirty Martini Glimmer Glam .. from the Flying Unicorn store !  Oh, I  almost forgot the rub-ons .. these were so perfect for this page!

 

Last but not least is my OTP project another Kaiser Craft mini that spells out DREAM! I have been wanting to try my hand at crackle paint since last Fall when team mate Jackie Weeks used some on her OTP tic tac toe box.  It was a ton of work but I do love how it turned out. The inner pages were simply painted white. After all of that dried  ..  whee, in parts (base coat, undercoat, crackle coat, top coat) but about 3 days all together, then I decorated my mini with pearls from the Flying Unicorn Store and flowers, then added some lush ribbon to my album rings. This is still a work in progress!

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to share the process with you! This was a gorgeous kit and I sure hope that you snagged one before they sold out! Glad I got mine!!!  I still have tons left and hope to bring you some more projects mid-month. Talk soon!

chipboard lovin'

I love to work with chipboard!   you can do so much with it...ink it, stamp it, spray it, crackle it, paint it, bling it and so much more....you can even leave it naked and it looks fabulous.

 

For my first project I used Riddersholm papers, Bello Pastello Collection No64,  Bello Pastello Collection No69, Bello Pastello Collection No77 and of course some awesome chipboard....Flourish 1 ( 3 on board) : by Imaginarium

 

 

To enhance the awesome chipboard I used Tattered Leather - Glimmer Mist  and a few pearls I had in my stash

My second project is a Fabulous little chipboard album from Melissa Francis!  I also used some wonderful papers from Fabscraps, and Riddersholm and Pink Paislee's Anthology Flair rosettes. Some alphas, embellishments and lace from stash

I decided touse the album as a memory keeper from 2011....I used my favorite photo from each month or a photo that affected me somwhow (see March)

Ruby Rock It Avalon

Today it's Helene (2amscrapper).  I worked with the Avalon collection from Ruby Rock It.  I have to tell you that the double sided papers are fabulous to work with as are the Rub-ons. 

I made this layout of my grandbaby trying to sneak a peek at one of her Christmas presents.  Actually, as you can tell by her age, she needed some help in this endeavor--and grandpa was the partner in crime.  I, of course, told her, no peeking. She looked up at me, as if to say, Seriously? no peeking? I chose not to use a flash so the photos are a bit grainy but I felt they captured a moment  worthy of scrapping. 

The bottom strips are all from the Vision paper.  I added my ribbon framed with some foil stickers and cut a slit to insert the photo.  The backside of the Vision paper is the photo mat.  I cut a Christmas tree from the Illusion paper, following the pattern in the design.  Then I decorated it a bit with things from my stash as well as the Avalon rub-on butterflies.  One butterfly is fussy cut from the Vision paper and added for some dimension. 

I will post more items from the Ruby Rock It Avalon collection later this week. 

My First Guest CT Post - My Graphic 45 Love!

Hello everyone!  I am very excited to be creating my first post Guest CT post!

 

One of my favorite companies to work with his Graphic 45!  Their fabulous graphics are both whimsical and classic and often beg to be fussy cut, the colors weither vibrant or more reserved are always rich and robost, and the quality is outstanding.

 

I worked with the Once Upon A Springtime papers.  From the Unicorn store I worked with Once Upon a Spinrgtime, Pixie Post, Flight of Fancy, Woodland Fantasy, and Fairy Folk.  I also used the Tattered Angels Ir*Resist*ible alphas

From my stash I used some glass beads, gems, glitter, lace and alphas

Graphic 45 - Tammy

 Hello, everyone!! At Flying Unicorn we are spotlighting G45 this week!

 I would like to share a few LO's that I have done with G45 this week. First, I would like to say G45 papers are so very versatile. With ease I was able to match papers from different lines to match the LO that I was working on. I have 3 examples to show you this. 

 First LO is done using G45 "Playtimes Past Collection" (background) and "Botanicabella Collection" (forground). I also used some Petaloo Color me crazy orchids.

 I think they are a perfect match to my photo's that was taken at Disney.

 On this next LO I used G45 "Le Romatique Collection" fussy cutting the roses to go with this LO was perfect and "Once upon a Springtime Collection". I also used Dusty Attic cupid that I altered and the corners. The small blue blooms are Prima. The small off white is  SD's. The Large ones was hand made by my mom. I also used a cricut design for the heart. The Pearl swirls are Zva. Ribbon is some from my stash.

 This is of me and my sweetie on our wedding day.

 The Last one is my kids favorite. I didn't use different collections together with this one. The whole collection was perfect for this LO. The Collection that I used is "Tropical Travelogue Collection". I used some Prima botanical mix for the blooms (they are all white and in pieces) I colored and built them to make the flowers. The Large design around the photo was cut using my Cricut. The small black swirls is EK success as well as the title for all the LO's. All butterflies are from a good friend Lisa G.. This was a extremely fun LO to make. All the goodies that match this collection, a person could get lost for hours (and I did LOL!). I also used one of the PP to fussy cut out the leaves around my blooms.

 This is a sunset that was taken on our vacation back in '08. That is way to long to stay away from the beach!! I hope you enjoyed, and come on in a take a peek at the store. All PP are availble as well as most of the products mentioned.  Take care!

Focus on Graphic 45 ~ Sandi ~

I think it's safe to say that I'm a Graphic 45 addcit. So, I'm most excited about this week's focus on their products.   I thought I'd start with a couple of projects using my January Kit of the Month which features G45's Tropical Travelogue.  The layout above is a fairly straight forward project using Hibiscus Heaven pp, Tropical Travelogue, as well as small pieces of  Island Jewel, Garden Isle and Paradise Postage. The base is from Core'dinations Nostalgic collection. My white hibiscus flowers were fussy cut from the papers and the leaves were bent to look more life like. I've finished the page with some jute, Websters Bloomers, Stickles and a Prima bling I had on hand.

Next I did a quick altered project with some tags cut from the Tropical Travelogue papers and using a teal blue charger as my base. I first covered the charger with some fish net from the KOM, then added my tags, papers and photo, seashells and  flowers from my stash.  The photo is of one of my dd's and her hubby, so I suspect that she will be claiming this one.  I plan to add a few more embellishments to this one but I was running out of daylight to take a photo of my project.

One of my all time favorite collections is Steampunk Debutante  .. wow, the colors are so dynamic! There is still some Steampunk Debutante in the Flying Unicorn Store in the 8x8 size. You won't want to miss it! For this one, I fussy cut the flowers then added some dimensional florals as well. I've used a Dusty Attic lamp post as a mask and love the look. The wings and title were cut with my Cricut. I've added some Diamond dust on the tag and florals and that makes this page really sparkle!

Another one of my favorite is the Baby2Bride collection from Graphic 45! You might remember this layout that I did earlier this year using a gazebo as a mask. The tree, gazebo mask and photomat were cut with my Cricut. The butterflies were made with my Martha Stewart punch. I love the paper curls which I made to simply mimic wisteria on the gazebo. Those awesome title stickers are more Graphic 45.

Lastly, I wanted to share another layout from the Fall using the Magic of Oz collection available in the Flying Unicorn store. For this one, I simply wanted to show that this collection is not just for Halloween, The beige, black and red tones can be used in many different ways! Here I've done a simple birthday page adding some fussy cut flowers and then a doily from my stash and a Dusty Attic piece from the Flying Unicorn Store.  I've used my Cherished Heart punch to make a bit of eyelet looking trim.

Kit Of The Month Projects by Frank

Hello Everyone and Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had an amazing New Year and that everyone enjoyed some family and friends time, and of course I hope you all got crafty this weekend!

Today I am sharing the projects I made with the amazing Flying Unicorn January Kit 

"Wishing & Hoping"

I must say that when I first saw this kit I was immediately blown away by the amazing colors of the different patterned papers included. I for one LOVE bright colors, I have to say these papers are simply amazing, you get the right amount of brightness and you mix in a bit of vintage appeal and you get a perfectly balanced set of papers that will simply be perfect for any of your projects. I was so completely refreshed by the patterns and the imagery on these papers that all I could think about all day was the beach, mango margaritas and even Hawaii! Oh my!

Let me share the projects I made with this amazing kit, and give you some insight on each,

This is the first layout I created and I simply could not get enough of the included netting, wow, such a wonderful texture to add to any project. I created sort of like a fisherman's net, capturing all sorts of ocean goodies, fishes, shells (which are included in the kit as well), and even some starfish in there. Of course my layout could not be complete without some banners.I added three and STUFFED them with all sorts of embellishments and yummy die cuts. I love the flowers and how the frame the picture!

The second layout was is truly one of my favorites, I created what looks like a vintage travel log book, and added all sorts of distressing and vintage elements! Really love the dimension.

This third layout was somehow a very inspirational one, I wanted to give the look of the paper opening in half to reveal a net with treasures, pearls, shells etc, and really those flowers give so much beauty to the layout as well.

I also created some cards with this amazing kit I thought the papers were perfect for Hello cards or simply any type of cards!

Of course the kit could not be complete without the Off The Page portion which I completely enjoyed, and was so awesome to work with! I painted the glass plate with the paint included in the kit and I added some paper from the kit as well, and some flowers and candles. In the middle I added one of the bottles included and added some pearls inside, just for fun.
