A big hello to our crafty friends around the world.
It's time for me to share a little creativity with you and I have a word of warning - there are lots of photos - major understatement.
I am going to share with you this project.
Take one paper mache book and smother it with heavy gesso - you don't have to be to finnicky in covering it
- I used my finger tips and just went for it.
Cover with patterned paper - this one is a FabScraps paper from their C85 Shabby Rose collection.
I have used Modge Podge as an adhesive to stick down my patterned paper.
Once dried I then applied a coating of clear gesso to the top of the patterned paper.
Ink around the edges.
Randomly apply rub on alphas.
In this case, it wasn't quite so random - I applied the letters to spell out a friend's name - sssshhhhh!!
This special friend has an addiction to books - true!
She is a true bibliophile.
I'm adding a special book to her pile.
Ink the spine and randomly apply rub on alphas.
I used a metal die and a die cut machine and using corrugated cardboard packaging,
I cut out the oval shape and inked all over and then added another piece of corrugated cardboard underneath to give it height.
I then adhered to the cover of my book.
I cut out numerous tags and layered smaller tags on the top.
Ink around the edges before your start to embellish.
My base layer to give stability was plain old white cardstock.
I didn't over embellish my set of tags.
On this project I made a set of three.
A double paper tag layer, a little muslin, a flower and a sticker sentiment and of course a little gesso.
A handmade tag to place at the top.
I grabbed a bottle of Shimmeringz and sprayed the oyster coloured seam binding to give it just a smidgeon of colour.
I sprayed the mist onto some paper and then using my finger swirled the seam binding through the colour and then dried it with my heat gun.
I have threaded all the tags on to a book album ring and then tied the seam binding between each tag.
My sentiment stickers for my tag set :
start here
find your happy
every single day
collect moments & memories
Tuck your tags inside your book.
On the top of my book.
My embellishment cluster was made up of my oval shape cut out of corrugated cardboard packaging, a little muslin, some foliage cuts, a few stamens, a strand of pearls, a bloom [flower] and a sentiment and then I have randomly applied gesso.
There you have it.
All done.
