Jax here today to share a quick card I made using some scraps from the October 2012 "A Journey In Time" kit. I am loathe to throw away any little scrap, and hate to cut into full sheets of paper to make a card, so keeping my scraps works out perfectly for times such as these. This is also a great time to use up your scraps as someone suggested on the Forum yesterday that the Use Your Stash Challenge may make a repeat appearance next month - with a twist!
With Mother's Day behind us, many of our thoughts are (or should be!) turning to Father's Day and more masculine cards.
I love this one Prima Mask Crackle 6x6

Here in Brazil the month of May is the month for brides.

Here are some close ups …so much texture! I have used the Prima masks and lots of Prima flowers from the Flying Unicorn store to create the background.
Also did you all know that this month the Flying Unicorn is sponsoring CSI challenge site? So much inspiration there and lots of amazing prizes. Come play along with us. Here are 2 layouts that I created for challenges this month at CSI.

Hey everyone, Denise here!!
Flying Unicorn is excited to announce we are now carrying a new paper line straight from Poland, Friday the Thirteenth!!
I love this paper..it's great quality and perfect for standing up to the challenge of Gesso, mists and molding paste!!! Sometimes when working with mixed mediums, I find some papers don't stand up..but this line if fabulous!! Here is a layout I made using the 100% collection. I made this for the Round Robin Challenge in the Flying Unicorn Forums
I used the Prima Crackle mask and molding paste on the background.
I layered some burlap under the Dusty Attic chipboard. and then framed my pic with twine. I added Prima Flowers to bring it all together.
Go check out all the collections of the new Friday the Thirteenth papers!!! I know you'll love them!
The background was created using gesso, Distress Inks, and multiple stencils. I also added in some cheescloth, and a bit of stamping.
Mini Bag Tutorial
Hey everyone!
Denise here to share a new MMU Challenge with you!
MMU is all about Altered and 3D projects and I remembered this tutorial from a few years ago and wanted to share with you all! I wish I could remember where I got this, but I do not remember.
Please excuse any photos that aren’t great quality. It is so hard to get pictures in my house sometimes..drives me nuts!
What you’ll need:
11 x 8 ½ sheet of cardstock
Bone folder/scorer
Pencil
Ruler
Items to decorate
Adhesive
Here is what you'll be making-
Directions
Taking your cardstock lay it horizontal. Score at ¾ , 4 ½ , 6 ½ and 10 ¼ inches
Flip vertically. Score at 2” and 6 ½ “
Your cardstock should look like this.
Now take your ruler and measure out 2” in each larger sections (where you marked 4 ½ and 6 ½”) Do all four sections. Next take the ruler and draw a line at an angle. You’ll want to go from the corner to your 2” mark…score where you drew the lines. (SEE BELOW)
Fold your cardstock where you scored to get some flexibility. Fold your smaller flaps on all four sides as shown.
Don’t adhere yet until you get everything folded and lined up as shown. Follow my pictures to fold your bag. Go back and adhere down once you are sure all edges line up correctly.
Making Handles: (Now you can do this however you think will work, but I used ribbon and brads)
Hole Punch
2 pieces of ribbon that are the same size
2 Large Brads
Hole punch on front and back on the ‘lip’ of the bag.
Poke holes in your ribbon using your brads. Slip brads thru holes. Attach to keep closed.
I hope you enjoyed this Mini Bag Tute and can't wait to see you give it a try!! Be sure to post it in the FORUM to win an awesome RAK

Thanks a bunch for spending time here.
Hi everyone! We had Misty Russell join us this month as a guest designer. She is so talented and created so many amazing projects with the May Kit of the Month “Coffee & Muse” Here are a few of her projects.
I can't get over how jammed packed this kit is. I have created 7 projects with the kit (and the mixed-media add on), and I still have tons of goodies left. In fact, there are 3 large prima tags in the kit that I'm hoping to tackle soon. Cards and tags aren't something I do well, but I love them and want start getting better at both.
So first up, I have the OTP project included in the kit. Every month they include an OTP project, and I think that is just awesome!!! This month was the Tim Holtz Configuration book.
I've used modeling paste and mists from the mixed media kit, as well as some of my own mists created with Dr. Ph. Martin inks. The corner flourishes, are included in this months new release at Scrap Fx.
I decided to keep the inside fairly simple, and not over embellish.
I've never tackled a configuration box before and was a little intimidated at first. Thankfully, since the boxes are removeable, it made putting this together nice and easy!
This next project is a layout made for my youngest niece Ciera. This was a page that was put together rather quickly...and that never happens for me. I literally put this together within a 15 min time frame, I really hope it doesn't show??? It was an attempt at a minimalist type of page with lots of negative space. Unfortunately, I think in order to make these types of pages, I need to print off smaller pics because I still took up a large part of the page...
My final project, is another layout. This is probably my favorite out of all the things I created with this kit. It was totally me, and went together smoothly without having to think too much (I love those type of creations)...
I've used the 7 Dot paper and tons of flowers in the kit as well as the prima word stickers. The feathers were also made from 7 dot paper. The butterflies were actually fussy cut from a catalogue that included stamp paper in it. The images were so inspiring that I will be fussy cutting it more for future projects...
In the background I used the Claudine Helmuth stamps included in the Mixed-media add on....
This blue color here is mix of the white and teal colored dylusions mists included in the mixed-media add-on as well. I love the color that came about with this mix!
Make sure to check out Misty's Blog....always loaded with lots of inspiration :)
Hey everyone!
It’s Wednesday!! You know what that means!! Yes! Another WCYDW tutorial to inspire you to get creative!!
For today, I’m
going to share one of Tim Holtz’s techniques. You can use Perfect Pearls or if
you have Pearlized Watercolors as I used, they work just as good and I like
that they’re in their own wells already! I love this technique and it’s super
fun and easy to do.
You will need:
Perfect Pearls or Pearl watercolors (I used mine from the June 2012 kit)
Black cardstock/tag
Mini Mister filled with water
Wipes or paper towels
Small brush
If you are using
Perfect Pearls, spoon your colors into your palette or water well before
misting. Mist your colors with water using your Mini Mister.
Mix with your small
brush. Use your wipe or paper towel to clean your brush before moving on to the
next color. Let sit while you work on the next several steps. You want your pearls to have a creamy like texture.
Using your embossing ink cover your stamp thoroughly and stamp on your cardstock. Press firmly to make sure all areas are stamped
Your stamped image will look nice and shiny!
Cover entire image with Clear Embossing Powder.
Tap of excess and use heat gun to dry. Your image should be nice and raised now.
Now let’s go back to our pearls. Using your water brush, start mixing your pearls.
Start ‘painting’ your stamped image on your cardstock with pearls and water brush
Do each section of
your stamp and let dry. Your stamp and pearls should be nice and shiny!!
Here is the tag I made. I used supplies from the May KOM and some yummy little flowers from our own Bitsy boo!
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!! Let's see what you come up with! Be sure to post it in the WYCDW thread!!
Hey everyone! Denise here to share some amazing creations from one of our May Guest Designers, Debbie Sherman!
Debbie loved this kit and had so much fun creating with it! Just look at what she's done!
Look at the cover of the OTP! A Tim Holtz Configuration Book
Love how she is using this for storage!
To see more of Debbie's wonderful creations head over to her BLOG!!
Look at how vibrant that stamped blue looks on top of the background!
I've just scratched the surface as far as Distress Paints are concerned, but I can't wait to expand my collection (there are currently 27 of the Distress color palette available, including the 3 metallic colors) and to play some more! I see some painted Flying Unicorn Metal Adornments in my future. And layouts. And...
