Welcome to WCYDW! Did you know that you can turn Lindy's spray mists into dabber mists? Today I want to show you some fun ways that you can use Lindy's with dabber caps, it's really my favorite way to use them. Have a look at the video I did for you and then take a look at the BAP I did below.
So let's build a page with Prima Romance Novel (this is definitely a fave collection for me) so that we can use some of the elements we made using our Lindy's mists with dabber caps. I apologize that some of the photos are not great quality, I am doing this while we are on the road and I don't have the best conditions! But I think you'll get the "picture" LOL!!
2. I usually sort of plan out my layouts in my head and then I like to make the elements that I think I am going to use. You know why I do this? Ha ha, cause then I can clean up that mess and put it all away and get on with the pretty papers! I used dabber caps on my Lindy's to stain the flowers and lace.
Love that ScrapFX chippy and of course I used my favorite Stampendous Embossing enamel in Aged Scarlett to cover it.
3. Next I cut up some tags from the Messenger and Bookplate pages, distressed and inked them. I am using black Mix'd Media Inx throughout this tutorial as I love how well it covers - it is a chalk ink so I can really make things black and inky with it.
4. Now let's do some masking with molding paste. I used TCW's mini harlequin mask randomly in the corners and after that dried, I used Prima's static mask and black ink in the lower right. Most of that gets covered up in the end, but that's just the way it goes sometimes!
5. Here you can see what it looks like after everything has dried.
6. I think I want the diamond harlequins to be black so I put the mask back over the masked images and ink heavily with black Mix'd Media Inx.
7. After inking above, I misted with a little Lindy's Lump 'O Coal Black. Well that made the diamonds all muddy looking so I took a damp Q-tip and cleaned the mist off the diamonds.
Oh yes, I like that look!
8. Next I inked my title all around the sides etc. Then I wiped the chippy with a damp paper towel to get the ink off the embossing.
9. Yes I am kinda working this upper right corner! I decided it was all too "in my face" so I got out the gesso and brushed it on in a random pattern.
10. Ok, time to go back to those tags, I brushed them with gesso, dabbed with Lindy's Glory of the Sun Gold while the gesso was still damp and then again after I dried it. I love the look that gave.
11. Let's see what it looks like now. Ok I made some splats 3 different Lindy's: Alpine Ice Rose, Peony Scarlett Red and Glory of the Sea Gold.
12. I dabbed some embossing ink around the edges of this tag and embossed with Stampendous Chunky Black. The photo doesn't show it well, but the effect is really kinda cool.
13. Ok let's do a trial placement. I think that looks pretty good. Time to start putting everything down. (Somewhere along the line, I splattered the tags and page with a little black ink.)
14. Here's the left side down. I laid out my pattern and lightly marked the paper where each tag would go so that I could get everything back in the same place.
15. And the right side.
16. Time to add the title, lace and the two word tags. "A Perfect Day" and the photo are popped up with foam squares. I also inked the diamonds at the bottom, I like that better!
17. Hmm I think I forgot about the outer edges of the paper. I think a frame would look nice too. I want this to be kinda grungy to offset the feminine pink, so I used a couple different punches around the pageand really roughed it up with my distresser. And of course I heavily ink the edge with black.
18. And here it is mounted on black cardstock, with the rest of the elements added. I added some wooden buttons and a clock from the Romance Novel collection and a gorgeous Flying Unicorn Adornments heart.
I'm not loving the pink flowers though. I might have to change those up. I am thinking that the flowers would look better if they were stamped with a small script stamp in black to tone down the pink. Stay tuned for that change. LOL!!
It's not a big difference, but I like these flowers better. They are exactly the same except that I stamped them with a script stamp after coloring and before shaping.
