November Guest Designer~ Tara Orr!!

Hey scrapping friends!! Denise here to share some WAY exciting news!!! We have a FABULOUS Guest Designer joining us for the month of November. The one and only Tara Orr!!! We are so excited to see what she has done with the November kit and can not wait to share with you!!

A bit about Tara:

I live in Beautiful British Columbia, Canada with my gorgeous husband of 12 years and our three amazing kids who are the heart and soul of my projects. I am now a SAHM to my precious little kiddos but before that, I worked as a webmaster in the Technology industry for many years and loved it. I think I will return to the ‘work’ force one day but for now, my job is at home, raising my kids (and squeezing in a little scrapping on the side).

Random Facts about Me: I have a degree in Psychology, a green belt in karate, love horseback riding (although its been way too long since I last rode), I order a grande dark from Starbucks almost every day, prefer chocolate to any other sweet – although I’ll eat any other sweet over chips/salty stuff any day, I’m the oldest of 3 siblings, gave up hope of maintaining my ‘Monica from Friends’ (as my husband would describe) cleaning habit once I had kids of my own, have earned more grey hairs and wrinkes in the past 8 years than I could have imagined and love my family more than anything else on the face of this earth!

I started scrapbooking in November 2008. Instant addiction. I love papercrafting – LOVE it. I create because it challenges me, it relaxes me and it lets me escape into a world of creativity that I adore. I love to explore different techniques and styles but I feel most natural working with a shabby chic genre with lots of distressing!

October 30th - Time To Launch The Christmas Season!

Jax here, and in keeping pace with the department stores, it's the day before Halloween, and here I am to provide you with a little bit of Christmas inspiration.  

 

Although I confess to occasionally cueing up the Christmas carols on my iPod in July (c'mon, how much of a waste is it to have all those songs reserved for a measly month each year?), my husband Evan has a strict rule that the Christmas season does not start in our house until December 1st.  I did manage to sneak this little project by, though, on the argument that it needed to be ready for December 1st.  Now I'm back on the strict no-Christmas until it's Christmas plan.

 

I picked up this Kaisercraft Advent Calendar last December, but it got lost in a sea of Christmas cards and tags, and lay neglected amongst my scrappy stuff for the next 10 months.  My 6 year old is very into calendars (and candy!), so it wasn't an option not to complete this project before December 1st this year.  So off to the Flying Unicorn store I went and stocked up on Graphic 45 Christmas papers and away I went.

 

I wanted a vintage look for my calendar to go with the gorgeous vintage prints of the Graphic 45 Christmas Past and Christmas Emporium papers.  I started by appyling a basecoat of brown acrylic paint, and when that was dry applied a coat of Folk Art Crackle Medium, followed by vintage white acrylic paint.  Look at that fantastic crackle!

 

I decorated each of the boxes with G45 Christmas Past papers and postage stamps I cut from the 8X8 paper pad, then embossed the dates with the scrumptious Stampendous Aged Embossing Powder in Ivory I love how much dimension those gold flecks add.

 

I trimmed the top with Petaloo Magnolia and Berries Vines and Sprays, Maya Road gold mesh and handmade poinsettias made with the Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia dies.  

 

I used G45 paper from Christmas Past, sprayed with Dylusions in Postbox Red to give the poinsettias a deeper red, and trimmed the edges of each petal with Stampendous Aged Embossing Enamel in Scarlet.

 

I hope you'll forgive me for the early Christmas post, and I hope to see some of your Christmas creations as the holidays grow closer.

Creating made Simple with Adrienne

HI All! Stopping in for a quick share!

I have been a bit busy the past couple of weeks- you know the feeling- you WANT to sit down and create a layout, but have limited time. I had this perdicament this week, but wanted to squeeze in just enough time to create something simple. 

 

First off, I was craving some paper yumminess- look at this GORGEOUS Glitz Design Paper from the Hello Friend Collection which you can find here- http://www.flyingunicornstore.com/category_s/804.htm

To keep it simple I decided a clothes line would make for a great design, but keep things simple. All it took was a string of baker's twine which I teathered to two brads. I added some clothespins to the line and just began adding. First the photo, then banner, cardstock, and lots of little embellies- my fave is the Melissa Frances Resin! It was so simple to lay this all down- in all it took about fifteen minutes. I finished it off with some gesso and a Crafter's Workshop Stencil and some Glimmer Mist on top also found in the shop!

How easy is that?! You can't go wrong with this design, or any variation of it. The design turns out simple and yet eye catching, and the mixture of eye candy is gives your layout that POP it deserves! Can't go wrong! I encourage to challenge yourself wheather you are pressed for time, or just want to keep things simply stunning, to try this out as your next project!

Happy Haunting with Shona

Hi everyone! Shona here with another Halloween product layout to share. I have used the Happy Haunting Collection from Graphic 45. G45 are quickly becoming one of my favs to work with, so many fussy cutting elements and fun things to embellish your page with.

 

The tickets are from the awesome chippy pieces that come with this collection. The stamps and flags and title are all fussy cut from the papers.

 

The tag is also from the chippy pack.

Spooktacular Savings on Halloween Products!

Maggi here!  Halloween is just around the corner and yeah I've been sneaking a few chocolates that I bought to give away to the kids while working on some fun Halloween projects. The Flying Unicorn store has 20% off on all Halloween products through the end of October, it's a SPOOKTACULAR SAVINGS!

I've used the faboolous Authentique Enchanted collection for this first collection featuring the Flying Unicorn's favorite Halloween villan, Mr. Hal-o-ween!  I used Stampendous Aged Embossing enamels in black and silver to emboss the Dusty Attic spider web and spiders.  Those enamels are my new favorite product, they look sooo fabby on chipboard!

 

Everyone knows I am nuts about Graphic 45 papers and I really loved the bright and bold Happy Haunting collection!  I love this little witch!  I did a lot of fussy cutting and added a couple tags from the Authentique collection.  Again I added Dusty Attic spider and web chippys.

 

I used Stampendous aged black embossing enamel on the web, I love the flecks of gold and silver in this enamel!  Another great product that is a must for me when using these enamels is Stampendous boss gloss; it's a clear embossing gel that you dab on, it's so much easier to use when your covering a large surface like a piece of chipboard.

I made the yellow flower using Spellbinder's Sunflower set #2.  The orange flowers are Petaloo Tifany Treasures in Mandarin Orange, they are the perfect color for your Halloween projects!

Our niece was recently married and I am making a scrapbook for her.  Her husband proposed to her around Halloween and hid the ring inside a pumpkin he had carved.  So I had alot of fun scrapping a couple of pages about the proposal!  I used a mix of the Authentique Enchanged an G45 Happy Haunting collections for these next two pages.

 

The two pumpkins fussy cut photos of the pumpkins they carved.  The little orange banners are from my stash, an older Pink Paislee collection.

The story of his proposal is hidden in the library pocket.

Gettin' Spooky with Adrienne

Hi Uni's! I have some shares for your today! Halloween is fast approaching, and why not stock up on some Halloween Scrap goodies from the Flying Unicorn store (http://www.flyingunicornstore.com/category_s/84.htm)

I will be doing a special Product feature on the bright and bold Fancy Pants Halloween Collection. The papers are gorgeous and the embellishments are equally awesome!

I first began with a layout using some pictures taken of my son at Halloween a couple of years ago. 

I created some background texture using a stamp and orange ink pad, I loved the patterned paper from this line so much- this particular print was my favorite and I thought it would be well balanced next to my son as Nemo. 

I also used some Dusty Attic which I embossed with Stampendous Embossing powder which you can find all in the FLU store!!!! I went about creating clusters of flowers and Fancy Pants embellies- My fave is the diecut transparent kitty which is reversible. Loved that!

Last Halloween I had had just had baby girl so I dont have a ton of photos of last year. The lack of Halloween photos did not keep me from creating with this line though. ON THE CONTRARY! This IS a Halloween Themed line, but there is plenty of more neautral prints to use for other ideas! I Loved the reverse prints of some of these, I thought them perfect for a more misted look.

I simply took my Dusty Attic Chipboard, layered a thin coat of gesso, and then glued it in place. Once well adhered, I began to mist in any color I desired. This technique is incredibly beautiful. I epecially loved using my favorite of the Prima Shabby Metal Collection- Geese which can be found in the shop.

The following layout was done in a similar manner, with the exception that I splattered spray gesso over top and added Stampendous Glass Glitter over top. I also added some sweet embellies to the tree branch to further highlight the branch.

** Getting Spooky with Flying Unicorn **~ Tammy

 Hello everyone! Tammy here hope everyone is doing great today! I have a few spooky projects to share with you. I had a blast playing with Pinkpaislee "Phatom" collection. I used it on all projects that I am about to show. We currently have a sale going on for 20% off all Halloween products in the Flying Unicorn store. How's that for Spooky savings?!  Hope you all get a chance to get you hand on this paper collection, I loved playing with it!! Here we go!

 First up I used the PP on my OTP project from this months KOM! Painted all my letters black (chalk paint in the KOM) and added some Petaloo, Manor House blooms, stamps and a few Spooky creatures to create my Spooky greeting!

 Next spooky project is my Boo Bird house that I created for last months MMU. Click on the MMU to take you to the instructions on how to build your own spooky box! Its a treat box that holds yummy treats for that special Ghoul or Booy in your life! LOL

 More Petaloo and Manor House flowers. A few DA pieces and that spooky tree was made from a FX chippy piece. I also used some of the new Stampendous Mica flakes to make the leaves on the tree. Graphic 45 Happy Haunting with Jax

Today I have two layouts to share with you from Graphic 45's Happy Haunting collection.

The first is a layout of my middle son, Brennan, at Halloween last year.  He has been a giraffe every Halloween up until now (we're breaking with tradition this year and he's going as Optimus Prime from Transformers), and last year's giraffe costume was the cutest I'd ever seen.  Bell bottoms and a cute padded bum that wiggled when he walked - too sweet!  The sweet patterns on the Happy Haunting papers were a perfect compliment to the photo of Brennan at his preschool party.

I layered my Happy Haunting papers with black cardstock and added dots and swirls in Liquid Pearls in Hot Cocoa and White Opal.  I fussy cut the clocks with their sweet little witches and mounted them on Petaloo Peonies in Sage, and added fussy cut images and chipboard elements from the Chipboard Tags 2 sheet and finished the layout off with a title cut from Tim Holtz's Vintage Market die and colored with Liquid Pearls and Inka-Gold.  Isn't he just too cute to spook? 

 

For my second layout I stepped outside the box, and started with a blank canvas, literally.  I dressed up my white cardstock with mists, Inka-Gold and Silks paints, gesso and the lovely Mini Chicken Wire and Mini Harlequin masks from the store. 

I painted my Dusty Attic Chicken Wire with Stickles in Starry NIght - just the perfect color for a Halloween layout - and embellished with a Glitter Cuts Scary Swoosh and some gorgeous Petaloo blooms from the store and ruffled black trim from my stash.

Graphic 45 Happy Haunting - with Kelly

Hi everyone!! Kelly here, to share a couple of Halloween/fall layouts with you! All Halloween themed products are 20% off right now in the store!!!
I have been having lots of fun playing around with Graphic 45's Happy Haunting. I mentioned back when we did a product focus for G45 that I was new to their papers, I had never used them up until I was sent the Ladies Diary range, and it was love at first sight! So when I received this Happy Haunting package, I was delighted!!
I am also new to scrapping Halloween, I have a tough time with "theme-y" papers, and up until now had only made one Halloween layout in all the time I have been scrapping, such a shame! I will say this, working on these projects got me over my fear, I'm smitten!!
I really loved making this first one...it isn't actually a Halloween layout, but a fall layout...the photo is from a recent trip to the pumpkin patch. That's my youngest, Paisely..isn't she cute? I cut the border off one of the papers, machines stitched around and around it, and adhered it with foam adhesive to my cardstock background that I had stamped and misted.

  I fussy cut the tree/owls from the same piece of paper. I also fussy cut the clock pieces, which I thought were perfect with the cute little image of the girl sitting on a pumpkin! I used flowers from the store, including Petaloo, Kaisercraft, and Flying Unicorn flowers.

 My clusters are layered with the fussy cut circles, chipboard pieces from the collection, and flowers. 

Above, I used the Crafter's Workshop Flying Geese 6x6 mask, (from the store) I love that one!! I used scraps to create my banners.

 On this next one, I used photos from my older daughter, Lilah's first Halloween. She was a sweet little butterfly :)

 Once again I clustered Petaloo and Flying Unicorn flowers, chipboard pieces from  the G45 collection, and twine.

Ghostly Greetings all my ghoul friends and demons!

Good evening!  Laura here and I hope you are having spooktactular Hallowscream!  I hope you will sit for spell and enjoy some of my brew while you check over my Halloween post!  JUst please wipe your boots and leave your brooms at the door! I received some Bootiful papers here from the Hauntingly good company - Echo Park

Last year our youngest was Evil Dr. Killjoy!  He had a huge needle with fake blood in it!  I LOVE to layer and the great things about these FANG-tastic papers is the colors and designs lend themselves so great to the layers!  I cut the 'poison' symbol out of one of the papers, used my Tim Holtz Edge distresser and used some ghoulish treats from my stash

Now for my second layout I brewed up this layout about my oldest little monster dressed as a haunting scary ghoul with light up eyes

I silhouetted my ghoul, randomly punched the edges, made some spooky flowers and cut the fence using my cricut.  I added some spider webs and creepy crawlies

Product of the Month - Halloween Layout

Hey everyone I want to share some awesome Halloween papers from the Flying Unicorn - Kit of the Month called Love Potion.  I made this layout using the papers and Dusty Attic chipboard piece, Stampendous - Crushed Glass.  All these fabulous items are available in the flying Unicorn store!!!

 I made some of these flowers and also painted flowers from the Flying Unicorn and I used Creative Paperclay to make the leaves and then painted them with Creative Inspirations paints.

Double Double…Toil & Trouble

Hi everyone! Shona here with my Halloween product layout..I have used the Authentique Enchanted Collection and I gotta say this collection is so so yummy! The papers were just made for distressing and the texture of them is amazing. There is also so many extras in this collection to use as embellishments. I have used this weeks Mojo Monday sketch and the photo is my grandson last Halloween.

 

I did some fussy cutting, background masking and added some of the cool collection embellishments.

The flowers are from Petaloo and the clock face chippy is from Dusty Attic..all available in the Flying Unicorn store.

 

One last close up of the bits and pieces I have added and I have finished it all off with touches of gesso here and there.

Spooky Things

Hey there Unis!

Stephanie here today to share with you some Halloween projects I have recently made. Remember that all Halloween items are on sale in the store! Everything is 20% off until October 31!!

My first project is a mini album using Pink Paislee's Phantom collection . I have always thought Pink Paislee's products were incredible & this collection is no exception! The papers are so fun & there are so many elements that you can fussy cut to use as embellishments like I did.

I started with plain chipboard & cut two 6x6 pieces for the front and back covers. I painted them with Mod Podge then added my selected paper. The title is fussy cut from the "Haunted" paper. A great sheet of paper to play with! In fact, that is where most of my embellishments in this album came from!

The black bird and the skull and crossbones tag are from my stash. I love the banners on the paper and the fun silhouette printed paper!

 

Once all of my pages were embellished and in order, I used some twine from my stash to tie the album together. I also added the witches hat and cauldron that were from one of my daughter's old charm bracelets to the cover. I just need to add more pictures from Halloween's past and this mini is done!

I also completed a layout from the fabulous Pink Paislee collection!

All papers and brads are from Pink Paislee. The black cat is a glitter cut from Fancy Pants.

This is a LO I did using Authentique's Enchanted Collection. A fave for sure!

I started by using my  Lucky 8 Fancy Scroll punch and saving the extra instead of throwing it away. I used that to frame the page and then added the die cute piece which I inked and masked with the Crafters Workshop mini tile mask and Tattered Angels Tree Glimmer Screen both from the store.

I'd also like to share some past projects I did using Graphic 45 Magic of Oz and Halloween in Wonderland papers. These are so fun to work with! I love all the fussy cutting you can do!

Halloween Savings

Journey in Time – with Shona

Hi everyone, Shona here with 2 more layouts to show you from the gorgeous October Kit of Month “Journey in Time”. For my first layout I have used the Scrap Cake papers in the kit. These papers are fun and this is actually my fav layout with this kit. I did lots of distressing, fussy cutting, stamping and masking.

 

I used some Prima masks in the background with some molding paste. I also did some random messing stitching on this layout.

 

The white swirl also comes in the kit but is green…I used some paints to color it.

My last layout for today I have used the Prima Craftman papers and LOTS of the embellishments in the kit and add ones.

 

This mask comes in the add on and is great for background texture.

 

I have used lots of the cogs, bead swirls, the metal butterflies and canvas pieces in the background. Lots of gesso and mists to finish it off.  This was a fun and different layout for me….no flowers! Eeeek LOL!

A Journey In Time - Chalkboard Paint with Jax

The October Kit Of The Month includes a bottle of chalkboard paint and a pack of Crayola chalk.  My kids love chalk, but I admit it has been years since I've used it in scrapbooking, and I've never used chalkboard paint.  But the possibilities were very exciting. 

Here is my first project using the chalkboard paint and chalks:

One thing to consider right off the bat is that if you don't want the chalk to smudge you will need to seal it somehow.  Enter the Multi Medium included in the kit - it can be painted on to seal in your masterpiece.  I have also read that a couple of coats of cheap hairspray will do the trick, but you want to make sure to apply it in thin coats so that your chalk does not dissolve.

I painted a piece of black cardstock with two coats of the chalkboard paint.  It is a very thin paint and a little goes a long way. After it was fully dry (because it is so runny it dries completely flat without any pesky brush-strokes) I stamped it with a Prima stamp and platinum archival ink and waited for that to set completely then colored in the diamonds with pink chalk and the dots with blue. I applied my chalk thinly, which gave me a more subtle shading once I'd applied the Multi Medium; if you want the chalk to appear more boldly you will have to apply it darker than the actual shade you are aiming for.  Once I'd finished inking I simply brushed on the Multi Medium, taking care to only brush over each area once to prevent smearing.  And then I panicked, because it looked like my hour of chalking had been wiped away by the Multi Medium.  Luckily as it dried the colors reemerged; it took a couple of days for the color of the chalk to emerge completely.

I then matted my chalkboard background onto Prima Craftsman papers from the October "A Journey In Time" kit and added photo corners and a Dusty Attic Fountain from my stash.  I finished the fountain off with some Ivory and Aqua Aged Embossing Powders from the store - these powders are amazing!  Look at how the details on the DA still show through clearly.

I finished the layout off with the gorgeous Prima butterfly vine from the Flower Add-On and a picture of me at one of my happiest places on Earth, Edinburgh.

How about using the chalkboard paint on a card?  I thought that a hand-written "Thank You" from my 6 year old son would make a great card for his teacher at the end of the year, and would be something he could be proud of helping to make.  I wanted to keep it simple so that Elliot's hand-written message would be the focal point.  I mounted it on Prima Craftsman papers from the October kit and embellished it with some cute little metal flowers from the kit and Doodlebug twine from my stash. And here it is:

And Adrienne shared this beauty on her Today post several days ago. Because the chalkboard paint is very runny you do not get a crisp image when you paint through a stencil, but this beautiful, organic flowing effect.

As you can see, there are so many possibilities with chalkboard paint.  I can't wait to see what you all do with yours!

Journey in Time with Monica

I want to share this amazing kit with everyone from The Flying Unicorn  called  Journey in Time it is full and I mean full of yummy goodness ladies.  You will not go wrong with this kit it has Prima, Kaisercraft and Scrapcake papers and let me tell you they are beyond gorgeous and I mean gorgeous everyone.

This is a layout I created using the Prima paper line:

 I used a mask from The Crafter's Workshop - Mini Tile Texture available in the Flying Unicorn store..

 Here is another layout I made using more of the papers available in the kit and then I fussy cut some of the titles

This paper line is called Scrapcake and this is such a unique line the colors and pattern on it is awesome.

 This is a photo box with a compartment inside that holds a mini album

 On all four sides you can slide a photos or journal or leave it as it is

 I then added a knob to the top so that you can open it easily

 Fussy cut some of the photos off of the Kaisercraft paper

 This is the mini inside

 The mini is an accordion style super easy from Arnold Grummer called Zig-Zag books and come in packs of 12 super easy to use.  They come in handy too...

Well this is the end of my Journey for today but not forever.... LOL

A Journey in Time October Kit with Denise

Hey friends!

Denise here to share with you a few creations I did using the new October Kit "A Journey in Time". I LOVE this kit. I love the colors, the way it is so versitile..and the OTP rocks!!

For the first LO I did, I chose the gorgeous G45 and Scrapcake papers to do this one. I started by masking and stamping the bottom piece first. I then used bubble wrap and black paint to make some designs.

I love the flowers and vines that come in the kit! they are a perfect match to these papers!

This next lo is one I did of my now 17 year old step daughter.. She was just a little pumpkin in this picture!!

 

Again..beautiful flowers and vines that compliment all the papers. I love the Mini Tile mask that comes with the kit as well. I used the pan pastels with it on the background.

This next one if my grandson Bentley!! I just adore this pic of him..he looks very interested in something. I mixed the Prima Craftsman and Kaisercraft Sears and Son papers for this lo. I used the tile mask again and stamped using a prima stamp and white paint for the background. I also did some stitching.

 

Now for the OTP!! I love this OTP..well anything that has to do with Halloween is for me!!

I started by using the Black Chalkboard paint that comes with it to paint the B. I then covered the other letters with some last years Pink Paislee's Halloween paper. Ifussy cut the clock and little witch from G45 paper and used my Cricut to cut out the Raven..ya he's a little big!

 

My VERY favorite part of making this OTP was doing the B. I used a Tree Mask from the Flying Unicorn Store with some molding paste for dimension. I then added one of my favorite Halloween sayings using my White Liquid Pen

"When Witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers..Tis Near Halloween!"

October Kit Shares with Adrienne

HI Uni's! Adrienne here, stopping in for some shares using the beautiful October Kit A Journey in Time. 

This kit is beautiful- the papers are so masculine, and yet are prefect for any themed page or project. I opened my kit and immediately my mind began to spin out of control thinking of all the pages I could create using pictures of my little guy. However, in the end my layouts took my  in a totally different direction. 

My brother is going to be a new Daddy here next month ( I am SO excited) and one look at maternity pictures and I knew I had to use this kit. The photos from the maternity session were beautiful and very neutral in color. The photos of my sister in law out in the field were just perfect for this kit. I love this photo in particular with her white shirt against the black background taken near the barn door. So rustic and beautiful!

For my next layout, the beautiful Scrapcake paper was just screaming FUN! I used the beautiful Crafter's Workshop Mask from the Embellishment Add On and Black Chalkboard paint from the kit to create a custom background. The gears from the kit were stamped with a mixture of bright paints. I thought this photo of my son in the Zinnia feild was perfect for the colors of the gears.....

Lastly, I wanted to quick share my OTP project. I created this by first painting my BOO with a mixture of Orange and Purple acrylic paint and then finishing it off with some Glimmer Mist in Beetle Black (Soooo appropriate for the occasion). I have been wanting to use this Prima Halloween vine for over a year now and this project lends itself that opportunity!!!! 

What great fun I had with this kit! Amazing colors and patterns. Beautiful textures and a mix of gorgeous embellishments. A stunning addition to any stash. Check it out in the Flying Unicorn Store

Oct KOM " A Journey in Time" Playing with Gears~Tammy

Hello everyone! Tammy Here with you today! Happy Thanksgiving to our Canada friends and to the US Happy Columbus Day!!

I sure do hope that you all got one of these kits! It is loaded with goodies!! A mask, gears, cogs, amazing pp, flowers and soooo much more! The things I wanna focus on today that is in this kit is the amazing Prima PP and the gears and cogs in the kit! I also have a tute to share that I figured out while I was playing with these things! First of all let me show you my LO's and close ups then the tute!

On this first piece I did add a long time hoarded piece of Dusty Attic that I have had forever! I guess just waiting for this Kit!! Here is the LO..

This is of my DH! He truly is my Mr. Fix-it!! Fixes everything! And built us a deck for our pool!! On the main pic he has sheet rock dust on his eye! LOL I had to use that pic with these papers from Prima "Craftsman Collection"!! It was a perfect match! Here are some close ups!

Loved playing with all the gears in this kit! Prima canvas ones, DA ones and also some acrylic ones from Basically Bare!! Next close up!

On the acrylic piece I stamped and used some alcohol ink to color! Super super fun things to do! The edges of each piece was done with the cool chalks that came in the kit too! I haven't used chalk in a long time! This chalk was like butter! It is called Pan Pastel and it is also sold in many other colors in the Flying Unicorn store! These are really worth checking out if you like using chalk! I would say the best I have ever used! Ok Next LO!!

This is my DS and he is a chip off the block from his DD! Super smart funny and sweet! To me he is brilliant! So that is what I titled it! LOL Some more of the Prima "Craftsman Collection" here along with more gears and letters! The white area is a mask that came in the kit that I felt looked like a data stream on this LO! He love computers and gaming so it just was perfect! I have said perfect a lot in this post, but ya gotta trust me. This kit is so loaded with many many fun things to do try and make!! Here are some close ups of this LO!

Used the acrylic pieces here too! Ok now for that tute!!

Thought this was pretty cool and had to share! I used the new embossing enamel from Stampendous that is also sold in the Flying Unicorn store in many many colors! This stuff is way COOOL!! Well hope you enjoyed! Hugs till next time!

October KOM - With Kelly

Good morning!!!! Kelly here, to share a layout I have made with the awesome October Kit of the Month, "A Journey In Time." This kit rocks, I hope you have enjoyed seeing the creations from the CT so far, and I also hope you got your hands on this amazing kit!!
Here is a layout from me...
I created my background using one of the ScrapCake papers. I used the Crafter's Workshop mask with some Modeling paste, then misted over that, and did some shading with the dark blue Pan Pastels from the embellishment add on..

Now, I am not one who makes a lot of handmade flowers, but I was inspired to do so, here...and this is how I went about it...

Chena and Escape Kitty with Maggi and the October KOM!!

Uh oh, the dynamic duo is off again! and looks like they're taking a journey all right! And where are these two off to now? From the looks of things, it seems they are hitchhiking out west and I guess they fancy themselves as cowgirls! Chena was digging around in a trunk upstairs and I wondered what she was looking for. Guess she found that cowboy hat. Now the boots, no idea where they came from but I'm hearing some tall tales about a cat and a dog scoring big at the poker tables! Soooo...I'm guessing she won them in a poker game. You go Chena and glad you're winning 'cause I AM NOT financing this latest adventure of yours and Escape Kitty.

But you listen up, you and Kitty be careful, I know you two are working a scam at the tables, watch yourself, you just might beat the wrong person. Kitty has nine lives but you don't!!

 

 

There's so much you can do with this kit.  You can go grunge, romantic, vintage, shabby, really any style that apeals to you.  I combined G45 and Scrapcake papers from the kit to make the layout.  The large diecut was made with a WRMK Lucky 8 punch, I love this one, its my fave!  Then I added the blue square in the middle that has been punched with Martha Stewarts Cherish punch around the page punch.The vine on the right is Prima and underneath that I've placed a diecut swirly vine that my dear friend Kathi gave me.   On the left I've clustered a DA compass and handmade flower.  I used one of my favorite new products on the DA, Stampendous aged aqua embossing powder.  Ooooh I love this stuff, I have 13 different colors!!  Look for it in the store.  I made the flower using McGill Floriano and sunburst punches.

 

 

 I hope you had a chance to grab this kit, it's a great one, but then they all are!

 

Laura's October KOM Reveal!

Hi everyone!  Hope you are all having a fabulous day!  I really enjoyed working with this months kit....fabulous colors, great papers, fantastic embellishments and of course an awesome OTP!

So for my OTP I painted them orange.....then applied a crackle medium, and then applied black paint!

I made a trip to the dollar store because I wanted some skeletons and I saw these skulls so I made some flowers and stuck the skulls inside

I aded a few more spooky elements like cobwebs and spiders and I am really happy wit the results...I think it looks fabulous!

 

I also created a layout about my rough & tumble boy using Prima Craftsman (I love this line - perfect for my boys)

 I did some water distressing, tucked the awesome clear gears around the corners of the layers threw on some stars from stash and a chipboard strip from a previous kit that I inked

 

 My next layout I used the G45 papers as they were perfect for the photo of my Godson and his bubbles!

 

I cut many of the butterfly's out of the paper, sprayed some glimmer mist in Suede and sky blue (available at the FUL store) and made some flowers

A Journey in Time with Stephanie

Hey y'all!

Today I get to share my creations with you from this awesome kit! This kit was amazing and so much fun to work with. From the Scrap Cake papers that felt very beachy and summery to me, to the Prima Craftsman papers that had a grungy feel to them, it is all about versatility again! I also got the embelishmnet add-on. Woo hoo! Without further adieu, here is my first layout:

  
This layout uses the Scrap Cake papers that I fell in love with! I love the colors and the fact that they are already somewhat distressed looking. I saw them and immediatley knew I wanted to do a beach layout. This photo is of my kids at Wrightsville beach in May of 2010. I used the pennant cut from Prima packaging here along with the Prima mistable canvas pieces. Love these! The flowers are a mix of Petaloo and Flying Unicorn.

 

My next project is also a layout using the KaiserCraft, Prima & Scrap Cake papers. I cut the circles out of the Scrap Cake paper to add around my photo. Then I inked them with a green ink.

Everything here is from the main kit and embellishment add-on, except for the small alphas. They are Prima alphas from last month's kit. I  had a lot of fun cutting out circles & some gears from the Prima Craftsman paper! Adding some gesso & black ink helped keep the grungy feel that these papers seemed to have.

I love all the gears and trinkets that came in the kit!!

  

I also want to quickly show you my OTP project. I love this month's OTP! It was so much fun to work with!! And I know my kids will be very excited to have a new Halloween decoration in the house!

I started by painting the letters black & then added some white crackle paint in places.

I went through my stash and pulled out as many spooky elements as I could find and began adding them to the letters.

Pretty Magnolia

Hey everyone! Denise here to share a layout I did using some Petaloo Color Me Crazy Chipboard and Magnolia papers from the Flying Unicorn Store. To be honest I have never worked with this collection before, but let me tell you..now that I have...I want more!! The colors and quality are amazing..simply amazing!!!

Here is the lo I did.

I started by misting with some Charcoal Glimmer and masking using Distress Ink in Black Soot and a Prima Mask from the store. I am LOVING all the new masks Alda is getting in...I am a mask hoarder!!

I used a Copic marker on the Petaloo Butterfly chippies and used my white pen for detail on them.

Using another Prima mask from the store, I used molding paste on those to add some texture. Remember..when using any kind of medium with your masks, be sure to wash them right away!

I used the scraps to make some banner/tags and added some Ruby Slippers Stickles for detail.

Now go run to the store and grab yourself some of the Magnolia papers!! They also come in a 6x6 which are great for making mini's and cards!!! Here are some of my favorites to tempt  you..

A Coffin Good Time with Alda

With Halloween around the  corner. a  coffin  full of goodies is what the  witches and warlocks ordered!  So scroll on down for the  template  and  make  these   boo-tiful boxes  fro your   own ghosts and  goblins ! 

I used  one  sheet of Authentique Paper HAUNTED   from the  Enchanted Collection, 

This one was fun ...  I use  Timmy's  Black Embossing  Powder  - 

I covered the  white cardstock with white  glue ... lots  of  it  and then sprinkled the  embossing powder on top, heat  gun and  waited  for  bubbles  giving  it the  texture  look and feel
