Hi there! Kelly here today, with a little something different for you. Today I want to show you a way to get the most out of your kits. If you are anything like me, (and maybe you aren't, but this might change things..) you save every little scrap of amazing goodness from your Flying Unicorn KOM. Yes? Well, yes, that is what I do...nearly every useable scrap. I'm talking even the little strip at the bottom of the patterned paper that you cut off...with a peek of the pattern on it, yep, I keep those strips!
Ok, so what do you do with these leftovers?? I made 6 layouts, and have a seventh started, from the September kit, and I still have a bunch leftover. Same with the August kit, 4 layouts, a tag, and my OTP came out of that kit, and now the scraps sit in plastic packaging waiting for the perfect project...
How about trying to combine both kits?? Sure, they are two completely different kits, different color schemes, patterns, everything, but just maybe....
Let's see what we can do..
(I have to apologize for the photo quality, my good camera broke the other day..so ignore the glare, shadows, and poor lighting, please!)
Ok, seeing these side by side...hmm they don't really go together well at all..but persevere! You don't have to use everything...
I grabbed a lot of the neutral, more muted papers from the August kit to contrast the brighter, bolder colors from September.
I have said it again and again, don't over think!! It still looks like a mismatched mess, I know, but it will get there...
Now the fun stuff!
Here is an important part of tying the colors together...a good coating of various mists in colors that go well with the papers, I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Olive Vine, Rum Punch, Trunk Bay, and Sprout, and Dylusions in Black Marble..all from the Flying Unicorn Store...
There's the "throw away" strips I was talking about...
Another opportunity to bring all the colors together..mist your flowers to coordinate better..then layer flowers and trims, and add a title...
And look at that. One thing I love about this process, is it helps me to come up with such unusual color schemes, that I never would have thought of if I didn't stretch myself to combine these products..and it all matches pretty well, dont you think??
Thanks so much for taking a look! I hope I was able to inspire you to use your scraps!!! Have a great day!! Now it is time for me to try to use even more of the September kit, and combine with my October kit scraps...should be fun!! If you enjoyed seeing this process, I would love to do it again another month, let me know what you think!

Ok, choose a photo, I prefer to use sepia or black and white when using a crazy color scheme. Here is another spot to use a ton of scraps and really add interest, start piling the layers under the photo.
