Christmas creating is in full swing at my place.
Let me share a wee project with you today.
A tag, a matchbox and a house - truly!

So what have I done.
I have made a large matchbox using a Sizzix metal die set.
To give you some idea of how big the matchbox is, I have used the journalling cards from a Prima Rossibelle 3x4 journalling notecard pad as my patterned paper on the matchbox, my house and my tag.
Recently I saw a matchbox house made by the fabulous Monika Jakubowska and I thought to myself, love that idea and so I played.
A structural engineer I am not, but I played with some paper, a very old bird house template that had long sat buried in my craft room and then some cardstock and paper before I was a little happier with the way I was going to be building my house.
After I made my matchbox I layered a piece of corrugated card [read here, cut a piece from your pizza box], adhere to the top of your matchbox, then adhere a little pulled apart muslin.
Cut a variety of pieces of Christmas foliage - I have used three or four different dies here and I have layered them on top of each other.
Add another piece of corrugated card, a little more muslin and some more dies.
You really are building up the layers on this one.
and then I have added a branch embellishment with a little colour
and another foliage die cut and of course my house.
Don't be shy using plenty of adhesive when you are gluing down your house.
Now my house - let's talk a wee bit about the house.
Built from cardstock and patterned paper.
My roof - well that was a bit of a mission - I punched out numerous cardstock brick shapes and built them up on my roof, some I doubled up and some I put another piece of corrugated cardboard underneath them, giving them height as I was building my roof to help keep the slope, before I then glued on some icicle pieces [a Marianne Design Creatables die LR0392].
Then I grabbed a paintbrush and some Aleene's Glitter Snow and randomly applied on the roof and surrounding areas. I was quite generous with the Glitter Snow and then I sprinkled glitter everywhere and trust me on this one, I mean everywhere [including me].

Remember earlier in my post I admitted to not being a structural engineer [and I'm not] - so since building this wee house, there are many things that I would do a little differently next time.
And so I will.
When I make a matchbox, I have to make a tag as well - it just wouldn't be right without a tag.
and yes, it tucks away just snugly inside the matchbox drawer
So there you have it.

I will admit though to digging deep in my stash for some long lost Prima product - some of it may have been ummmmmmmmmmm ... from pre 2010 - crikey.
Nothing like mixing the old with the new.
We have to remember not to keep things 'for good' my friends, for then some of these 'for good' things get overlooked and buried.
