Today, I share with you a quick step by step tutorial on how I created this month's OTP project. This set of coasters is part of the Your Passion Your Art January Kit. First, let me show the final result.
I wanted the coasters to still be flat because I wanted to use them as real coasters!
Here is a picture of the material I used.
And here is a picture of the coasters right out from the box.
My first step was to prime everything with white gesso.
Choosing papers from the Your Passion Your Art kit, I cut strips and pieces of patterned papers. My daughter wanted to help...
After that, I started adhering those pieces of paper down with gel medium. I took care of alternating patterns and shapes.
Next, I added a thick layer of clear crackle paste.
Once dry, to add a bit more texture, I chose to add modeling paste through the 13@rts stencil that came in the kit.
As far as embellishments, I needed something flat. I chose my Butterflies stamps and dies. I stamped on an old book page, die cut the image and coloured it with watercolour pencils.
Added words stickers from 7 Dots Studio on each piece.
Finally, I added a bit of shading with my watercolour pencil and a last coat of gel medium, and everything was done!
Hope it inspires you!
