Hello Unis! Jax here with you today.
Have you ever bought a mask, only to discover once it arrives that it is actually the opposite of what you were expecting - that the parts you expected to be cut out are solid, and vice versa and so it languishes in your stash? Do you have other masks you love, but that you look at and wish that you had an inverse mask as well? For me it's the Crafter's Workshop Mini Brick Wall mask - sometimes I want solid bricks, and am in luck, but other times I wish I could just mask out mortar lines.
I had the pleasure of attending several workshops with Dina Wakely last weekend, and she shared an inspired technique she uses in her art journaling to get the most out of her masks. I couldn't wait to try it on a layout!
I love this mask from the Crafter's Workshop, but I haven't been able to figure out how to use it on a layout - until now.
Hi everyone!! Kelly and Denise here today, and we have TONS of inspiration to share using the Mid Month Muse - Mixed Media Inspired Kit!!! Warning - LOTS of photos ahead!
The kit is packed with all kinds of mixed media goodies and we had lots of fun creating! We both loved the large (18"x27") canvas banner included with this kit. There are so many possibilities that you can do with it! First up let's see what Denise came up with..
I went back and forth about what I wanted to do with the banner..cut it up for a canvas mini, make two banners..etc. But I just to keep as is and make myself a cool banner for my scraproom wall. For those who know me..I so love Julie Nutting's "She Art" and I made this using a tutorial from her book.
I drew all the templates out free hand and then used papers from the June Kit of the Month "A Ray of Magic" for her face, body and skirt.
Next up, Kelly's projects:
Thanks for stopping by!!!
Hi everyone! Jax here - It's my turn to host What Can You Do Wednesday (WCYDW) and I have a tutorial on making a funky mixed media background using Gelatos, Gesso and Gel Medium.
I started by drawing random blocks on my art journal page in pencil.
Thanks for watching!!
My name is Rebecca and I am from Perth, Western Australia. I love to craft and can spend literally hours in my craft room listening to music and crafting away. Crafting for me began not that long ago in 2010 with card making, I decided cards were my thing and I was not going to take it any further. However my sister-in-law convinced me to attempt scrapbooking, I gave it a hesitant go and loved it. From there I ventured into OTP and fell in love with crafting even further. My little card making hobby quickly turned into a full blown obsession with all kinds crafts, I am now willing to try my hand at anything.
My crafting strengths include versatility and thinking way outside the box, I consider normal to be boring and like to stretch both my mind and imagination in all different kinds of directions. My motto is 'more is more' I like lots of detail and not a lot of blank space on my projects.I would like to thank Alda and the entire Flying Unicorn Creative Team for letting me join you, I very much looking forward to creating with you all.Be happy and creative.

Hey Uni friends!! Denise here!
I'm excited to share our June guest designer with you all today!! Lynne Woolgar! Lynne was one of my very first favorite designers and I've been scrappy stalking her for years now! She is amazingly talented and when she agreed to join us this month, I was estatic!
Here is a little bit about Lynne
Hi everyone! My name is Lynne Woolgar. I am so honored and excited to be a GDT for Flying Unicorn!!
I am a single mother of 3 adult children, Kevin, Daniel and Ashley. My extended family includes my DIL Carol and SIL Mike, as well as Kevin’s long-time girlfriend, Arelys. I saved the best for last, Mason, my grandson. You are going to see many projects that include his picture. He is most definitely my inspiration, and the reason for scrapping!
I started scrapping in the early ‘90s, and although I enjoyed the process, I made very few layouts. It took me 5 years to get one album done! Fast forward to 2004; a divorce and a major move back to Florida, changed all of that. Funny how, my scrapbook supplies were the only arts & crafts items that I brought with me. I worked on a few pages during the next few years, but concentrated more on home decorating, sewing, and floral arranging. While out shopping one day, I picked up a magazine that inspired me to venture into a new art form – collages. Still working on that one! Of course, if you are making collages, you need pretty papers, stamps, inks, all of the lovely supplies you need to do scrapbooking! At about the same time, my daughter, Ashley, announced that she was pregnant. Well, that was it….I had to document her pregnancy and the baby shower, and the birth, and the footprints, and the smile, and the…….everything!!! Now, I’m hooked!
Along the way, I’ve had a few DT positions, which included POSH, Snobby Walrus, and Scrapbudz. I’ve also been honored to have been a Guest DT for Graphic 45 and Scraps of Elegance. I am currently a DT on the Twisted Tuesday Challenge Blog.
Scrapping has become a way of life for me. Not only is it my creative outlet and escape, it has also helped me to regain some sanity in my hectic life. I’m always looking for new ideas and techniques to try out, and to pass on. And I welcome the challenge to get out of my comfort zone, which is romantic chic, whether it’s grungy, shabby chic, retro or classic, it’s definitely my go-to style. I have learned so much and have been inspired by so many scrappers & crafters, and I am looking forward to learning & sharing more!!
